This past week, we had the opportunity to attend the New Mexico Land Title Association Conference where one of our outstanding agents, John R. Fox, was honored with the 2015-16 Omer F. Tucker Citizen of the Year Award. John is an attorney, president, and owner of Southwestern Title & Escrow in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He is a native of Santa Fe and started practicing law with his father, Robert Fox, in 1978. John’s legal practice has focused on real estate, title insurance, transaction exchanges, trusts and estates, and small business.
One of the most common leadership skills that is often overlooked is listening effectively. John has to be one of the best listeners I have ever met. He intentionally listens and is the first to bring a group back on track, mainly because he is fully ENGAGED and devoting his full attention to the meeting. When a person engages, he holds himself accountable to the subject at hand and is not sidetracked by other variables; i.e. phone emails, texts, or other distractions. John misses nothing. His employees created a video for him to watch following the awards ceremony. I don’t know what was in the video, but I’m sure it contained a very heartfelt message. They clearly respect his leadership and love him dearly.
First National Title Insurance Company is proud to have John Fox and Southwestern Title & Escrow as an agent. He is an example to us all on how to be a better leader. Congratulations John!
