On March 16, 2015, my son, Will Horn, had a great experience serving in the Texas House of Representatives as a Page and an honorary intern for Rep. Rodney Anderson. Rep. Anderson asked Will a while back to come to Austin to work with him in his office and on the House floor so he could learn more about what they do making laws and managing the great State of Texas. During his time there he was asked to stand in front of the members at the speaker’s podium and bang the gavel. Rodney coached him on this beforehand and told him to hit it really hard as some don’t hit it with enough “authority”. Will had no problem with this job, and when he banged the gavel the whole room turned toward him, cheered, and applauded as it secured the room’s attention. It was a proud moment for Rep. Anderson, Stephanie and me! Will grinned ear to ear and simply saluted the floor as if to say, “Thank you, thank you very much.”
Today, the Horn Family would like to say thank you all the men and women who serve our great State as Senators and Representatives. Rep. Anderson introduced Will to quite a few of the other Representatives. Rep. Scott Turner even wrote him a personal note, while on the floor, which Will thought was very inspirational. People like Rep. Anderson and Rep. Turner are all about giving back to the community especially when it comes to kids. We all have something to give back, whether it is to kids, our favorite charity, community, state, or even our own Title Industry. Give with a gracious heart. Will had a great experience because Rep. Rodney Anderson “gave” him that opportunity, and he represented the Title Insurance Industry well!
